Fit through the body

A shirt cut close through the body with a generous armhole avoids the two most common made-to-measure failures — bagginess at the waist, or restriction across the shoulders when reaching. Fit is confirmed in your fitting rather than assumed from a size chart.

Cloth weight

A lighter two-ply poplin wears better through a hot, humid Bangkok day than a heavier oxford cloth, worth specifying if the shirt will see regular local wear rather than travel to a cooler climate.
